An OptiMonk alternative that decides the offer instead of handing you a builder

OptiMonk is a popup builder: tell its AI agent the goal and it builds an on-brand popup, for email capture, SMS capture or an offer, priced by pageviews with a free tier up to 10,000 a month. Resparq builds nothing for you to run. It shows one offer to a shopper with items in the cart as they go to leave, picks that offer per shopper in Guided and AI mode, measures it against a holdout, and charges a flat fee. Different tools for different jobs; here is where they overlap.

What each one is

A builder you run, or a modal that runs itself

OptiMonk

Shopify App Store listing “OptiMonk: AI Popup Builder”, read October 15, 2026

OptiMonk’s listing leads with “Chat with an AI agent to build fully custom, on-brand popups.” It is a builder: email and SMS capture lists are named features, email and SMS popups are popup types, and what the popup offers, who sees it and when are campaign settings you configure.

Pricing is by pageviews: Free at $0 for 10,000 a month on one domain with all features, then Essential at $29, Growth at $99 and Premium at $249 as traffic rises. The listing shows 4.8 stars across 456 reviews.

Resparq

What the app does, from the code it ships

Resparq runs on your storefront, on product and cart pages, and when a shopper with items in the cart goes to leave, it shows one modal: an offer, or in AI mode sometimes a reminder with no discount. In Manual mode it is the offer you wrote. In Guided and AI mode the modal is chosen per shopper from signals like cart value, time on site, device, traffic source and past abandonment. Accept the offer and a single-use code is applied on the way to checkout.

The popup never asks for an email address. Starter is free, Pro is $50 a month flat and Enterprise is $150, with no overage and no commission on recovered orders. In Guided mode and AI mode on Pro and Enterprise, 10% of eligible shoppers are held out and never shown a modal, so the dashboard reports lift against that group once it clears 30 visitors.

Builder or decider

If you want to design the popup, OptiMonk. If you want it decided, Resparq.

A builder gives you control and asks for the work: the offer, the targeting and the follow-up are campaign settings you configure and revisit. If you want that, OptiMonk is built for it, and its free tier allows 10,000 pageviews a month. Resparq’s Starter plan is Manual mode, where you write the copy, set the offer and choose when it appears, capped at 1,000 impressions a month, modals actually shown; the two caps are in different units, so compare them against your own traffic and cart counts.

The difference starts on Pro. In Guided mode you pin one offer for every shopper and the AI decides who sees a modal, when, and how it is worded, and never goes above the number you set. In AI mode the AI sizes the offer per shopper within the aggression level you set, under an optional weekly or monthly discount budget cap, and tests copy from its own pool, trigger and layout on its own.

And on measurement: in Guided mode and AI mode on Pro and Enterprise, 10% of eligible shoppers are held out and never shown a modal, so the dashboard reports lift against that group once it clears 30 visitors. Recovered revenue on its own always includes sales that would have happened anyway, whichever tool reports it.

FAQ

OptiMonk and Resparq questions

Something else? Email sales@resparq.ai.

Yes. Resparq never asks for an email address, so an OptiMonk capture popup and the Resparq modal do different jobs on the same store. If another app has a popup open, Resparq waits rather than stacking. Point OptiMonk at the arrival or sign-up moment and leave the exit with a full cart to Resparq.

If what you want is a popup you design and run yourself, do not. OptiMonk’s free tier allows 10,000 pageviews a month and Resparq’s Starter plan is Manual mode up to 1,000 impressions a month, modals actually shown; the caps are in different units, and a free popup is on offer either way. Pro is for the decisions a builder asks you to make. In Guided and AI mode the modal is chosen per shopper, in AI mode the offer is sized per shopper, and lift is measured against a holdout. You are paying for decisions and a control group, not for a canvas.

Resparq ships ten layouts on every plan. In Manual mode you write the copy, set the offer and choose when it appears. In Guided and AI mode the copy, trigger and layout are chosen per shopper from the pool the AI tests, so you are not designing one popup, you are letting it try several. Enterprise adds custom CSS and white-label modals.

Measure against a holdout. In Guided mode and AI mode on Pro and Enterprise, 10% of eligible shoppers are held out and never shown a modal, so the dashboard reports lift against that group once it clears 30 visitors. Starter runs in Manual mode with no holdout, so it reports conversions and attributed revenue rather than lift. Recovered revenue on its own always includes sales that would have happened anyway.

It works on the storefront, on product and cart pages, while the shopper is still there. On desktop the exit trigger watches for the cursor leaving the page, and in Guided and AI mode a variant can also fire on a timer on the page, on any device. On mobile there is no cursor, so Guided mode and AI mode use that timer, starting once the cart has items, and, for exit-intent variants, the shopper coming back to the tab after switching away. Manual mode on any plan can switch on a time-delay trigger that fires once the cart has items. The popup never asks for an email address, and an accepted discount is applied through Shopify’s discount link on the way to checkout.

No code. Install from the Shopify App Store, switch on the Resparq app embed in the theme editor, then switch the modal on from the Resparq dashboard. Two toggles, and it works with any Shopify theme. The scripts load deferred, after the page has rendered.

Starter is free: Manual mode, up to 1,000 impressions a month. Pro is $50 a month flat and adds Guided mode and AI mode. Enterprise is $150 a month for unlimited impressions and white-label modals. Paid plans include a 14-day free trial, with no setup fees and no commission on recovered orders.

Stop building popups. Start measuring one.

Free Starter plan, 14-day trial on paid plans, two toggles to install. No canvas, no campaign to babysit, no email field.
